Edit a screen
Screens are edited in the console, in a browser. Nothing is installed on the computer doing the editing.
What a screen is made of
The screen a guest sees carries the entries the hotel puts there: a welcome screen, hotel services, announcements, and information about the property. What is shown is what the hotel typed — nothing is added to it that the hotel did not publish.
The three steps
- Change something. Type the text, upload the image, reorder or remove an entry.
- Preview it. The editor shows the screen as it will appear before anything is published. Nothing reaches a TV from the editor alone.
- Publish. Publishing sends the screen to every TV connected to that hotel. It takes hold on its own; nobody has to visit a room.
Going back to an earlier version
Every publish is kept. If a change turns out wrong, an earlier version can be restored from the history and published again. That is usually faster than undoing the change by hand.
Templates
The library covers the usual screens, and a template can be started from any of them. Designs the hotel makes for itself are saved as private templates, so the same layout does not have to be rebuilt for the next screen — or for the next property, in the case of a group.
What the editor does not do
It does not touch the television service. Channels, video on demand and the set-top box menus stay exactly as the provider runs them; the editor only draws the screen around them. See what the product is and is not for the boundary.
Where the logo and colour live
Both belong to the hotel rather than to a single screen. Changing the colour or replacing the logo changes it for every screen of that property the next time one is published.
